Types of Flatwork We Install

Our Installation Process

Planning and Layout

Every walkway project starts with planning the route and determining proper slope for drainage. We mark the path and check for utility lines before excavating. Width depends on use, but 4 feet is standard for comfortable two-way traffic.

Base Preparation

We excavate to the proper depth and install a gravel base that provides drainage and prevents settling. The base gets compacted thoroughly because any movement here will crack your concrete later. Forms are set up to create straight edges and control the final thickness.

Pouring and Finishing

We pour concrete and work it to create a smooth, level surface with proper slope. The finish depends on your needs. Broom finish provides traction for safety. Smooth finish looks cleaner but can be slippery when wet. We add control joints every 4 to 5 feet to control where cracks form if they happen.

After the concrete cures, we remove forms and backfill the edges. The result is a professional walkway that complements your property and handles daily use without issues.

Maintenance and Care

Concrete walkways need very little maintenance. Sweep off debris and rinse occasionally with a hose. Remove snow and ice in winter, but avoid excessive salt or chemical de-icers that can damage the surface. Sealing every few years protects against moisture and keeps the concrete looking fresh.
